We meet on the 3rd Monday of each month.
Our venue is The Social Room, Assembly Halls, Gates Green Road, West Wickham, Kent BR4 9JW. Our meetings start at 7.45pm for 8.00pm We Laugh, We Learn, We Care and We Have Fun Together! Unfortunately our membership is full and we are unable to accept new members, please use our ‘Contact Us’ page if you would like your name to be added to our waiting list. Sorry but we are also unable to accommodate visitors at our meetings as our venue has reached its maximum capacity. |

About Gates Green
Gates Green WI was formed in May 1971 in Coney Hall, West Wickham due to a heavy demand in the local area.
Today, we are a friendly and active group with membership of 58, all enjoying each other's company. We have a speaker at most of our monthly meetings, with a chat over tea or coffee in the break, followed by announcements of forthcoming events and any business to be discussed. A monthly Newsletter is produced giving details of activities within the Group, in the Local WI's, in the Kent Federation, and Nationally. As well as Federation events to attend we are extremely fortunate that some of our members are willing to arrange outings. To give an idea of what we do, the following paragraphs describe our recent activities. We have had lovely excursions including Neasden Temple, Salters Livery Hall and a visit to the theatre to see The Lion King. Days out also included a coach trip to Kelmscott Manor and to the Kent West Kent Annual Council Meeting. We have kept fit by enjoying many walks including a London Terror Walk, a very interesting walk covering the history of Coney Hall and another discovering the area around Kings Cross. We have been in the woodlands to enjoy our annual walk viewing the snowdrops and had several other lovely walks. We also held our annual game of skittles in Limpsfield. All of the above usually involved a lovely lunch! We have also enjoyed many talks including those on the local beekeepers, around the world on a double decker bus, a day in the life of an antiques dealer and a visit from a Pearly Queen. We also have monthly clubs which including whist and scrabble. The Annual Membership subscription for 2024/2025 is £48.00 which includes the “WI Life” magazine delivered to your home eight times a year. |
